Meeting Minutes

July 13, 2010

 

President Dave Freeman called the meeting of the Corvette Memphis Club to order at 6:40pm.  The meeting was held at Sunrise Chevrolet on Houston Levee.  The after meeting dinner was held at Corky’s in Collierville.

 

The Secretary distributed the minutes to the membership to read and make any additions or corrections.  The minutes will be posted on the web site.

 

The Treasurer’s report was given.  As of June 30, 2010 the checking account balance was $4127.72, and the savings account balance was $112.80.

 

Joe Dyer asked that if you are not getting the Newsletter via e-mail, please check with him on the status of your e-mail address.

 

Sally Freeman took care of the membership for Shirley.  The shirts and name tags will be in for next month’s meeting.  She also introduced two guests, LeDon Rolliford and Alan Martin.

 

Craig Deckshot reported the arrangements for Ed Allen’s funeral.  We are to arrive in St. George’s Episcopal Church parking lot at 9:30am so that we can all park together.  Visitation and the funeral will be from 10am-noon.   Check out the web site where Doug Turner wrote a nice article about Ed.

 

Upcoming events:

…Century Farms Winery on 7/24.  Tour will begin at 5pm; bring a picnic lunch to enjoy along with the musical entertainment.

…Southaven Car Show on 8/1 at Snowden Grove Park from noon-4pm.

…St. Louis Car Show on 8/27-29.

…Classic Chevy Car Show at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett on 8/28.

…Delta River Run in Tunica on 9/17.

…Fayette County Cotton Festival Car Show will be in Somerville on 9/11.  Chuck Wombough is in need of judges for the Show.  If interested, please contact Chuck.

…A future Ice Cream Social put on by Matt Struna and Chuck Wombough at Struna’s home.

…Hernando Car Show on 9/18.

…Collierville Police Car Show on 9/28.  Charlie Shaw will need volunteers, so try to keep the date open.

 

Dan Lippy moved that we buy a brick at the Corvette Museum in honor of Ed Allen.  It was seconded by John Knight and approved.  Francis Dahlin moved we also buy a brick for Henry Lee.  It was seconded by Pat Turner and approved.  The issue of bricks for other members who have passed away or for future members was tabled for further discussion.

 

Gordon Dodge handled the 50/50, and the funds will continue to go to St. Jude at this time.

 

On July 22nd everyone needs to come to the Cruise In at the corner of Kirby-Whitten and Stage for Corvette Forum night.  It will start at 6:30pm.

 

The Dahlin’s will be planning the Mystery Dinner Cruise for the first Wednesday in August.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm.
