Meeting Minutes
March 11, 2008

End Time:    7:43pm

Doug Turner called the meeting to order.  He provided a slide show during the meeting of various Corvette Memphis events or gatherings.

Dinner:  Shirley Jones announced the dinner would be at the Germantown Commissary.

Treasure’s Report:  Susan Allen provided the following information on the finances for March 11, 2008. 

            Checking account balance (February 29, 2008):         $2884.37

            Savings account balance (February 29, 2008):            $619.12

Susan mentioned that there still remand some checks required to be deposited from last meeting that will be posted tomorrow in the checking account.

Membership:  Ann Hamblin introduced guests and requested members to update any past due membership fees.  She introduced Tim and Diane Cooper that own a Red 1999 C5 corvette.

Secretary’s Report:  Anne Abbadessa filled in for Deborah Hochstein. She announced that there were copies of the newsletter available and took the meeting minutes.

Newsletter:  Sherrye Willis requested for members that have not received the newsletter via email to contact her with the correct information.  She requested each member to complete and provide her a distributed questionnaire form.  This information will appear on the newsletter throughout the year.  She mentioned that the next newsletter will be available after the upcoming Saturday’s events.

New Business:

Many of the upcoming events and details are posted on the Corvette Memphis website.  The information noted was on any changes or additional information.

Mystery Cruise:  Tina Coronna thanked those who helped with last month’s Mystery Cruise.  She announced a time change for the next Mystery Cruise event to start at 6:30pm.  Participants that want to participate but unable to meet at 6:30pm due to work conflicts may contact Len Hudson or Doug Turner to arrange joining the event.

Wearing of the Green Game Night:  Pat Turner announced that there will be fine(s) if participant does not wear green!  She requested to bring an appetizer or dessert and lounge chair for seating outside.  There will be Bingo ($5/card), charades and other games.

Firestone Car Show:  The event (directions on website) according to Jeff Massey, will be a people choice award at 3pm where there is no entry fee.  Various awards include trophies, free tires, plaque, and oil change.  This would be for the Best of Show, Runner Up, and Top 25 Cars!  Food would be provided. 

Corvette Expo:  Tina Coronna stated that the event would include shopping, dinner and a fun time staying at a very clean Motel 6.  The plan is to back by Saturday Night.

Progressive Brunch:  The date has been changed to April 6th from 11am to 6pm.  The Freeman’s and Fergusson’s have graciously offered their home for the event.

Hot Springs Corvette Weekend:  This event has been cancelled for a potential time later in the year.

3rd Annual Cruise to Henco Furniture:    Charlie Shaw announced the April 5th event is from 11am-2pm.  They will provide 2 for 1 lunch special at the Whistle Stop Café in Selmer, Tn.  There will be separate parking and security provided.  Plan to leave Sears Auto Ctr. At the Wolfechase Galleria Mall on Rte. 64 at 9am.

Cars & Cycles against Cancer:  The Blytheville event of June 7th is to benefit the American Cancer Society Drive.  The drive would be going up Interstate 55 to Blytheville where a police escort would meet us at the city limits.  Each participating member would receive a key to the city.  There would be live entertainment.  Entry fee is $15 prior to May 7th after that it would be $20.

Dance the Night Away:  Pat Turner announce that her church was having a fund raiser by the Knights of Columbus on March 29th.  The dinner is $25/person in advanced. There will be music and a bingo parlor.

Day Trip:  Tina Coronna announced that the Central Arkansas Corvette Club would be interested in a collaborative day trip with our club.  She will investigate if they would be interested in the Blytheville June 7th event.

View Virginia Vette Venture:  Tina Coronna announced the June 26th event weekend event that would be an 8-hour drive through the Fancy Gap, visit private car collection of the Star City Corvette Club and dinners.

Drawings:  The meeting ended with a collection of $53 raised for the charity savings account.
